Hi everyone! So sorry for not posting in a while, more info on that on my instagram, but here I have compiled a list of 3 simple ways to have a more sustainable holiday, that are very easy switches to make.

  1. Urge your family and friends to buy from sustainable fashion brands or thrift stores instead of buying from big fast fashion brands. It is always much more sustainable and eco - friendly to buy from second hand clothing stores, or just clothing stores that have ethical and sustainable practices. I know from experience that sustainable fashion brands can get a bit pricey at times, that’s why I always urge to shop at thrift stores. A lot of people get the idea that thrift stores have weird clothes, and they will be bad quality… but I am here to tell you that that is not the case at all! I have found some of my favorite and cutest clothes at the thrift store, and one day I am for sure going to be showing a few of them off! You can still have adorable clothes, and be eco - friendly! (If you want to learn more in detail about why fast fashion is bad, I have a whole blog post right here:)

  2. Use unconventional items to gift wrap your presents. I am sure everyone can relate to the feeling of having the living room covered in wrapping paper from opening presents, all just to go straight into the trash. Some ways to stop all of this waste, is eliminating it from your presents. When you think about it, wrapping paper really has no use, it just makes it look pretty, so why not use a reusable version still making it look pretty, but not going to waste? Here are just a couple of ideas: using scarves to wrap them (you can thrift some really cute ones!), using fabric if you are like me and have a ton of random abric lying around! You can use pillow cases, the possibilities are endless! Or… you could just leave it how it is in a cardboard box!

  3. Shop from small businesses! I can not stress this enough. Buying from small businesses is probably one of the most sustainable things you can do! In a couple of days on my instagram, I will be posting a list of my favorite small businesses to shop form, but here are just some of my favorite!: Sydney Day Design, Cases By Natalie, Sweet Spot Stickers, Pretty Little Ninja, and of course my own small business: Flower Child Designs, where I sell jewelry. You Can find us all on instagram, (mine is @shop_flowerchild_designs) They all have amazing products and it would be amazing if you could check out their shops!
